Spiral of light waldorf.

There are no presentations by the grades no speeches by the administration. One by one each small flame lights up the whole room. The theme is nonsectarian and embraces all beliefs. The spiral of light symbolizes this gesture.

During the spiral of light festival we sit in silence in a darkened room listening to soft songs by a single as a single candle is lit in the center of a spiral of evergreen boughs a symbol of life amidst the dead of winter. With this she will enter the spiral and light the flame in the center. When she comes out of the spiral she will wait as one teacher ushers a student to the spiral s entrance. During the spiral walk we celebrate the turning point in the year when the days become their shortest and the night its longest and we look for the light which comes from within.

What is the advent spiral. Many have found the experience of walking the spiral as an older youth and or adult as a powerful and peaceful experience. Join us as we quietly walk through an evergreen spiral to light our candle and add our little light to the growing glow of our community. Aurora waldorf school admits students of any race color and national or ethnic origin to all the rights privileges programs and activities.

Each person walks one by one from the beginning of the spiral into the center and lights their candle from the central flame then turns and walks back setting their candle down on a golden star along the way. The winter spira l is a festival that is unique in our calendar of the year. When all the attendees have sat down and settled an angel will appear carrying a single lit candle. This is a celebration of quiet confidence of carrying light in darkness of sharing that light with others.

We especially need this as the days grow shorter and the light wanes earlier and earlier each day. In the center of the spiral a tree stump supports a lighted candle. We honor simply the light that each of us brings to the world particularly when we share that light with others.
